Reviewer Portal
Thank you for volunteering your time to review SWE Scholarship applications – we appreciate your time and energy!
The purpose of the SWE Scholarship Program is to provide financial assistance for education to those who identify as a woman matriculating in accredited undergraduate or graduate programs, in preparation for careers as engineers. Accordingly, SWE Scholarships are investments in students' potential to succeed as engineers and leaders. Applicants with career objectives that differ from this purpose should not be selected for awards.
It is recommended that before you start judging, you read through and score about 10 applicants. Choose "Save for Later" so that you will be able to edit. Once you have accessed an application, it moves from Queued Applications to Saved Applications. You can still click on an applicant to finalize your scoring once you have a flavor for the quality & process. Once you have completed scoring for an applicant, you must complete the judging by selecting "Submit". There is one last step on the Main Page to confirm the applicant(s) and then the applicant(s) will then no longer display on your main page. Each reviewer determines from their subset of applications, which are the most qualified candidates for SWE scholarships.
We have updated the judging rubric for this scholarship cycle. The rubric displays in a separate file and we have also emailed it to you. If you need assistance with the portal or the rubric, please review judge training https://youtu.be/u5OjXROx-nQ.
Please complete your assignments by the appropriate deadline for the applications you are judging. Let us know ASAP if any issues arise that affect your ability to meet this deadline; this affects your assigned applicants receiving a fair assessment for scholarships. Also, if you are assigned an applicant that you know, please let scholarships@swe.org ASAP and we will re-assign the applicant.
If you are questioned about the SWE Scholarship judging process, you are welcome to share the general requirements that SWE considers (academics, activities, leadership, classes, work experience, interest in engineering). Please do not share any point values or level information. Please forward any inquiries on results to scholarship-committee@swe.org.
